Nocturnal Visitors: Spotted Skunks Gone Wild!

They've been visiting us nightly (or should I say visiting our food) and coming in through our cat door. The cats do nothing about this except for the occasional hiss. They are so small, that they can easily get under our fridge. Last night they kept us awake, a couple, perhaps on a date, under the fridge, arguing. I don't know if this is courtship behavior or truly an argument. They do a lot of hissing themselves, when communicating. Skunks are in the weasel family and that's about all I know about them besides to stay clear of them when they turn around. These guys could seem to care less about people. The other day when the male came over early in the morning, the girls and I were able to follow him as he made rounds through the house, looking to see if he could score some cat food. He seemed completely unconcerned about us. The spotted skunks are very small, maybe the size of a squirrel.

Anyway- on what might be their favorite date destination at La Casa de Tres Verdes, back to the argument.

The female was under the fridge and the male kept coming out from under and hissing at her from both next to the fridge and also when he went back under. Eventually, Rick had to pull the fridge out and coax them out with a broom. The male left fast but the female needed more coaxing.

We imagine it went like this (replace hissing sounds with words):

Male: "Come on, let's go, get moving!"
Female: "I'm not comfortable moving this fast, you're pressuring me."
Male: "I'm talking about the oatmeal cookies up there, we barely got going on those and you're wussing out now."
Female: "Oh, well I like the cat food better."
